Jo Durand
Jo Durand studied Social Ecology at the University of Western Sydney and completed an Honours thesis on different forms of women's participation in decision-making processes. The thesis explored the application of criteria based on ecofeminist principles to assess the usefulness of those decision-making processes. She commenced a PhD that explored ways to intergrate a focus on environmental issues into the core business of a women's centre. While she has withdrawn from the PhD program, she maintains an active interest in the areas of women's, environmental, domestic violence and prison issues. Currently she is working part-time in a regional community development organisation in the inner south-west of Sydney. She also was involved in the organising of two Women, Earth and Change conferences which aimed to bring together ecofeminist activists from around Australia to discuss and share issues and to strengthen the network of Australian ecofeminists.
