Veronica Wensing
Veronica is the National Executive Officer for WESNET, the women's services network. Veronica has a background of working in women's services, typically refuges and has been working for the national peak since 1999. Her primary interests have been in working with women and their children and young women who are escaping domestic violence, sexual assault and other intolerable living situations. In her role as National Executive Officer at WESNET she has managed several Partnerships Against Domestic Violence projects including the "Home Safe Home" report, The Incidence of Domestic Violence in Regional Australia (for Department of Transport and Regional Services) and the coordination of national PADV focus groups.
Veronica has previously held the positions of both ACT representative and proxy representative on the national WESNET Committee. She has represents WESNET at several key forums and conferences, and is a strong advocate for women's refuges and allied services Veronica represents WESNET on the board of the National Women's Justice Coalition and has strong links with the national Women's NGO sector. She was a key organiser for AWOC II - the Australian Women's Organisational Conference for national women's NGO's. Veronica made this century's "Trust the Women" banner for the Women's Constitutional Convention 2002, celebrating 100 years of white women's vote and 40 years of Indigenous women's vote. She is currently on the steering committee for WHM and in her spare time, is publicity officer for the Canberra Gay and Lesbian Qwire.
